Exploring
AI is still an idea in your organization. The best next step is not a tool but a short list of problems worth solving, with an owner and a metric for each one.
Building foundations
There is interest and some groundwork, but gaps in data, process or rules would make a pilot fragile. Close the weakest gaps first and choose one well-defined process.
Ready to pilot
You have the basics to run a pilot on one process, with a baseline and criteria to continue or stop. Keep the scope small and build the evaluation set from the start.
Ready to scale
Your foundations are solid. The challenge now is to manage AI as a portfolio: owners, metrics, cost per task and governance that grows with the number of systems.
Prioritize use cases by impact and feasibility and write a business case for the top ones.
Identify the official sources the use case needs, remove duplicates and assign an owner to each one.
Document the target process, measure its baseline and define who reviews the results and handles exceptions.
Map the systems involved and how to integrate them securely, and decide who will operate the solution.
Publish short rules for using AI with company data and involve security and legal from the design stage.
